I Shall Not Want

I walk the path between trees
down into the glade
and place my soul into the water there.

A river alive with stones
awash with every story of my life
flowing downwards to the sea.

I am a flower falling on the stream
and floating in spirals of letting go
as my dreams make way for you.

I am my truest self in the song David sings,
each word unveils the longing of my heart:
I shall not want.

  1. Dear Jenneth, these words speak to me of the way our true selves emerge from the stream of God's love:

    "A river alive with stones
awash with every story of my life
    flowing downwards to the sea."

And the flowing water image immediately struck me as having a cruciform shape, its light shining bright above the surface of things.
Christ is our Rock and these stones suggest the daily grace gifts He strews along our pathway, reminding us, as we pick them up and hold them close, of His firm, steady and ever-faithful love. Lovely thoughts engendered by your poetic words today! Bless you, my friend. xo
